That sucks! Life is MUCH nicer for both of you if you can keep lawyers out of it.
I went through it all this past summer. We both agreed that if we had to pay lawyers, we'd both loose a lot of money. So we were able to keep things civil and work through the process ourselves.
We did pay a real estate attorney to make a new deed on our home (now, My home), but that's all we used him for.
I don't know who to recommend as far as attorneys, but if you have any questions about doing it yourself, give me a shout. If you PM me, I'll send my phone number.

My advice ...being a male on the end of a divource with kids, you need a African American Female lawyer.. It will go further with any judge than you know.. My buddy has her info if you want it...
