I'd like to buy some swag but the current shirts suck and I really need a jersey. I'm thinking at the meeting tonight it'll mostly BE the paid members so what are you going to be able to accomplish?

Side note, I have to work so doubt I'll make it.

Out of sounding like a jerk, maybe it would help to let everyone know what the money goes to, what are the benfits of joining, the overall question of WHY should I join?

we'll be talking about the budget, how many paid members we have, etc... at the meeting but it may be a good idea to put somewhere on the forum what all the benefits are you get for joining. it's on the home page but I don't think it's on the forum. i could be wrong though.

this from the "join porc" link.

All monies will be used to purchase trail maintenance materials (wood, tools, sandbags), trail head signs, this web site & the forum, bumper stickers, PORC gear, newsletters, and other items for trail improvement. All monies are used for trail improvement and other club priorities.

Also, a small portion of the proceeds are donated to other bike organizations, such as IMBA (http://www.imba.com/).

Not trying to be a smart ass. Just a thought, but I wonder how many of the registered non-members (like me) live an hour or more away from p'cola (like me) but still like to keep tabs on the happenings of your beautiful trail system (again, me).

If life ever calmed down and I was able to make use of your trails more often I would certainly consider becoming a dues paying member. Especially if I knew how much dues were and what the benefits were.

It also gives you the ability to sell your gear on the message board. With the way you flip gear, the membership should pay for itself in no time. :p

$20 / yr =
$1.67 / month
$.38 / week
$.05 / day (I even rounded down)

Assume you use the trails:
once a month = $1.67 / use
twice a month = $.83 / use
once a week = $.38 / use
twice a week = $.19 / use

I don't think that anyone can argue that if we had more paying members, that the trails would not improve.
