I came across a good deal on a carbon rigid fork for may Origin 8 but the Rake or Offset is not the same. 43mm(stock) vs 47mm . Would a 5 mm difference make a huge difference?

It will either make the steering more or less responsive.. I cant remember which.. I know that a G2 offset on a regular bike frame makes it slighty less responsive..

i think it will be a pretty big change but it may not be bad.

should actually make the steering more responsive with the fast twitch stuff.

i swore i posted back to this haha... oh well... the higher offset will reduce trail and make the bike handle a little bit quicker ... i went from a 43mm offset fork to a g2 fork with 51mm... the change was VERY noticable... funny thing with how the offset/trail works i was able to bump the fork to 100mm... typicaly it would "slow" the handling down... but with the g2 fork it put it back right about where it was stock... but with a higher BB and plusher ride :)
if you're realy worried about how it'll change things up i've got a 47mm offset rigid fork i could loan ya (i'm assuming you're dealing with 80mm suspension corrected fork right?)... it's not a great fork (off a low end redline 29er) but you'll see how the aditional offset changes things...
IMHO the extra offset isn't a bad thing with our trails... now if we where dealing with much faster wide open trails then maybe...
there was a good thread on MTBR that goes into detail about this... i'll see if i can't find it

ok looking at some more info on the origin8... they uses a 460mm fork so ya based on a sagged 80mm fork... my redline fork is about 465mm with the extra offset... so seriously if you want to try it out LMK... it won't be getting any use any time soon :)
