Hey guys,

What's a decent, inexpensive computer. I've been thinking about adding one to the bike, but just don't know how much money needs to be spent to get something decent.

All I really care about is total distance and elapsed time. Anything else (max speed, av. speed, etc.) is just a bonus.

Thanks,
Felix

nashbar (http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/SubCategory_10053_10052_200377_-1_200295_200295) usually has some deal for around $25. i can't recommend a brand. mine have either gotten lost or water got in them.

i like to have cadance on mine... just gives another reference point while riding... (more so on the road but in some non technical areas it's nice to look at on the trail)

i've got 2 different models on each of my bikes... neither cost over $20...

$17 model from nashbar... cadance and speedo are both off the rear wheel... so got a wire running up your down tube (a given with cadance)... but no wire on the fork which IMHO is a nice thing... also means you can use a trainer and get both cadance and speedo info... the buttons are also on the side so no accidental bumps and trail chatter doesn't translate into hitting the button 2 or 3 times when you meant to hit it once... it also locks into the mount nice and tight... a very defined "snap"

a $10 model from jenson... nice thing with this is the cadance wire doesn't have to be mounted... also has an indiglo backlight if you're into night rides... buttons are in top so i've had a few accidental resets from leaning on it with my gut and things like that and it doesn't seem to mount as securely as the other... but I haven't lost it yet... it also lacks the stop watch setting the other has (both stop when the wheel stops rolling for however long but the stopwatch keeps rolling)

if i was going to buy another it would be the one from nashbar... mounting it's a bit more of a PITA... but both work well for the price
