March is our membership drive!!
We can't do what we do without your support. Your support helps pay for the expenses of running this club - such as this forum, the website, the webserver, insurance, incorporation and non-profit fees, trail maintenance supplies, swag (tshirts, hats, stickers), etc.
Aside from feeling pride in seeing your funds go to improve the trail and cycling community, you also get a PORC membership card good for discounts at local bike shops. Not to mention the sweet forum perks, such as improved bandwidth, ability to use a custom avatar, unlimited private messaging, direct emails to other members, ability to download attachments, liberal attachment and photo uploads, ability to delete or edit your posts, just to name a few!
For more information about joining, click the here! (http://www.porc.org/join_porc.htm)
Happy trails!
----------
Here's the standard post below.
If you have been asking yourself why you should spend your hard earned $20 in joining PORC please see below.
What do I get?
PORC Bumper Sticker
Members ID Card for bike shop discounts
Privileges on the PORC Forum including unlimited posts, unlimited private messages, adding an avatar and other benefits.
Join in local or out of town group rides
Contribute to trail maintenance activities
Support other cycling advocacy organizations
Get discounts on PORC gear (t-shirts, hats, etc)
Take advantage of PORC discounts at various bike shops and mail order companies.
What's it gonna cost me?
Costs are shown at the link on the bottom of this post.
Where does the money go?
Trail maintenance materials (wood, tools, sandbags, seeds)
Activities/ Events- Including the Fat Tire Challenge Race, Turkey Run, Time Trials, Skills clinic, etc...
Trail head signs and reflectors
The web site & the forum
Bumper stickers, PORC gear and the new newsletter
Kiosk (two be built soon with UWF's permission)
PORC's club insurance
Memberships into state and national organizations including IMBA
Fees associated with being a corporation including state & local fees.
Breaking it down: (thanks Dave)
$20 / yr =
$1.67 / month
$.38 / week
$.05 / day (I even rounded down)
Assume you use the trails:
once a month = $1.67 / use
twice a month = $.83 / use
once a week = $.38 / use
twice a week = $.19 / use
Ask yourself:
Is $1.67 a month really too much money to donate to an organization that is looking out for your best interest as a mountain biker? Your bike probably costs a hundred times (or more) the annual $20 membership. Not only are you getting some free goodies and a discount to local bike shops you are helping the group and promoting its efforts. Get off the fence and join today to get all of the benefits of being a PORC member.
