it's been big news that Giant finally decided to jump on the 29er bandwagon... Mark and I where talking about it a few weeks back...
anyway here's some more info I just saw...

geo specs look right... prices read like $1295 and $2000-ish... or so i've seen online... also sounds like they should be available in a week or 2...
just thought some of you guys might be interested :)...
any info on top tube length? cyclesports has a 23" specialized rockhopper that i rode the other day. it fit pretty well but it was heavy.

sounds like they won't have the long TT like speci does...
and yup humdrum sounds about right... the big thing is that huge companies like giant will be able to bring more 29er specific parts... that zokes qr15 fork is new... also the big boys typicaly start with more entry level stuff then move up to the high end stuff...

may be more exciting when/if they come out with a FS version with the Maestro platform.

The Giant Rep was at TS, they have 3 coming out in August HT aluminum, HT carbon, and a FS aluminum..
As I feel, another ho hum HT. All HT mountain bikes are the same geometry. Buy the bike with the coolest decals. When I got my first mountain bike, it was a 5 speed, steel, rigid bicycle. For me, rigids and ht's both LIMIT the amount I can ride. Since I like to ride a lot, I don't want a bike that beats me up and limits the amount I want to ride.

giant has a slightly steeper geo then most of the others... also shortish chainstays... which is a good thing IMHO... then again I ride a surly karate monkey which is on the quick handling side of the 29er's
it'll be interesting to see what else they bring to the table.

I think Pops really invented the airplane, he just traded the plans to the Wright Bros for a bicycle.
Somehow I survived to have another B'day. Prolly because of bicycling. Actually, I was thrust into bicycling. One of my gaming friends called me at work one day and said, "go buy a mountain bike". I did; never looked back. That was in 82. My first 3 or 4 mountain bikes were all rigids. I guess the last one was a Trek 830 (can't remember fer sure). That one had paddle shifters. Still had canti brakes though. The next revolution, for me, was riding a road bike for endurance training. That occurred about 12 years ago. As for the Wrights; I ate, sweated, thot about, worked, and bled airplanes for 35 years. I can understand how they must have felt!

An F-16 doesn't qualify as a plane James. It is an overgrown lawn dart. Just as dangerous when you play with them after drinking too.
Sometimes the pointy end is in front. Sometimes not. lol Now I can still remember sitting on the end of the runway when the SR71 took off. Full afterburner, at least 100yds of green flame behind each engine. Noise to inspire. I would have prolly worked for free if asked. Just think what Wilber or Orville would have thot.
Drinking and airplanes, do they go together?

...so my rep calls me today to tell me they have some of them in stock. He goes on to tell me he is going to be in town next week. I told him don't show up without a demo. It should be here Friday, and will leave when he does next week. So I will let everyone know how it goes.

Mark could we set up some sort of Demo day at the trail and promote it? If hes in town over the weekend maybe a demo day where people can see it and take turns down Pate..

from a shop monkey on MTBR...
Guys/Gals,
Just pulled the first one out of the box.
IMHO, looks even better in real life than the photos and technical illustrations--but then again, I'm biased.
Please judge for yourself...
Behold, the 2010 Giant XtC 29er 1...
