Hey all -
Time to put this camping hash on the calendar - 4th weekend in October (Sat. 10/24) will be our trip to NC.
If you want to reserve now, there are plenty of sites we can get for just 2 nights, but to make it worth your while biking wise, going up on Thursday isn't a bad idea.
www.reserveamerica.com Search Davidson River.
If you don't want to commit to a site now, there are plenty of first come sites, but because it is in the height of the fall leaf color season, Davidson River will most likely be completely filled by Thursday evening, it was the last year few years. It was really hard to get enough campsites. And basically, if you want to camp, you have to help with getting the sites.
If we can get enough people to commit - reserving some sites would be a good idea.
Sites 34 - 41 are all together and available at this time.
So, start working on getting 2 days (10/22 & 10/23), or at least a day & getting up early on Friday.
More details onteh hash when it gets closer.
Just a side note, this is the most bitchin riding I have ever experienced, hands down. It is a long trip and for those of you that dont camp out you will miss a really fun time. Last year Glen and Young Robert went and definately pushed to the limits but a definately repeatable experience the leaves were in full turn and part of the trails only open this one time of the year for the leaves changing. This is a not miss trip if you have the opportunity. My brother was a mtn bike camp guide up there and he knows the area really well great biking!
