Amazing performance by Lance. It would have been greater if Lance and Dave had a duel like last year.

"I am beat. I rode as hard as I could - a fantastic race. Lance is fast," said Wiens to reporters gathered at the finish. "This year's race was very different than last year's race."

"This year, Lance is coming off the Tour (de France). Last year, Lance was coming off the couch," joked Wiens, who was happy with his second placed finish.

Last year Dave and Lance dueled and Dave took the victory making Lance looked bad. Lance was asked if he will go back and do it again. Lance said he will with better training. Few months later he announced his "come back" to professional cycling. As part of training he started racing regional crosscountry mtb, cyclocross, and road races. In velonews interview before Tour de France, Lance mentioned that Giro de Italia and Tour de France were all part of training for Leadville 100.
