This bike is just freaking cool! I picked mine up right before I left to go offshore for 21 days. I just got my second urban ride in tonight here in Lafayette, La. The bike is built with the best Surly parts including the 1x1 frame, mr. whirly cranks, hubs, and 24" 36h large marge rims. Then they added BB7 brakes for excellent stopping power.

Its a little bouncy with the 24" x 3" hoggy-g slick tires. Its a ride that you very quickly get used too and can predict. I will say that I have managed to drag the pedal in a few turns. With the tire set-up it should do wonders in the sand and just as an urban cruiser.

So you wear out the tires... Go grab a pair of 36h 29er/700/650b/26er rim/tires and have them laced up on the Surly hubs. BAM! Instant new bike with some of the best parts out there. For the price its an awesome multipurpose SS bike!

Ordered a Surly hub thats fixed, disced, and nutted for the bike. Mark is going to throw it together with a 9er rim. I've got a spare front 9er rim. I'll have the options of going with 700c or 29er tires. Plus, the additional BB height should keep me from dragging the pedals around every turn. Then I've got the disc brakes for stopping the 280lb idiot on top.

Ended up going with a pair of wheels built by Vic @ Truly Spokin. Its got the Surly fixed & disced 32h hub w/Velocity rims. I normally run clipless pedals even though they are not pictured.

Last week I took the bike out to UWF on the 24'' rims & fat tires for the group ride. I had an absolute blast even though I was running 40/17 gearing! I will most likely go back to the factory 33-35/17 gearing and bounce around the trails this winter.
