wanting to upgrade the cranks on the road bike. i noticed that the stock crank arms are 172.5mm and the ones on my mountain bike are 175mm. do i want smaller ones on the road bike for a reason? or should i get the 175 on the road bike to keep it more congruent with the mountain bike?

I run a 172.5 but could go longer due to my longer inseam but that is personal preference. another question to ask yourself is how many teeth are on your chainring? that is also important. I run a double 39/53 because triples are for hills (more gearing options) and we don't have that many hills around here and a double is more than enough. I forgot what I use to have. maybe a 39/47 (or something like that). I wanted more teeth up front for speed. I'm no bike scientist but maybe Pops can give you more insight. he has this shit down. later.

I could tell you, but you'd have crank envy

Natums already has "crank envy"; he's a little, short cranky. I use 175's on my road bike. I want the road bike to "feel" like the mountain bike (also 175mm cranks). YMMV

first wheels...now a crank? Just go ahead and sell your Blur and invest the money in Roadie gear. Anyone have some good Roadie gear thats kinda used but still "fast" for Nate?

you spin more on a road bike so you need shorter crankes. 172.5 is the standard length unless you are really tall or really short as is 175 for MTB.
