32X18 is current. I want to be known as "quadzilla"

Actually, Im going to do an adventure race; a mountainbike is required but most of the ride is on a flat road

32 x 16, or run 36 x 16

I did two laps at 32X16 . It was tough; my legs are a little more sore than I'd like them to be. I will switch back to an 18 for epic .

I used to run a 15 but it will wear out quickly and you have more of a chance the chain will fall off. I found a 38 chain ring which is big and stiff and then you have more options with the rear cog.
and yes bigger gears make you faster unless you are pushing.
