For $105 shipped including a helmet mount this is a very nice light. I got my first ride in tonight with it and its bright. I'd be glad to show the light to anyone in the market for lights and you use your own opinion.

What kind of battery life are you getting out of the Magicshine Lights? I know there are 3 power settings, but I was just wondering how long the battery is lasting on a ride.
Got mine last night. Have not rode with it but played around the house. Very bright.
After 10 minutes though it also got VERY HOT. Wonder if it needs the wind from a ride to keep it cool. I had to unplug it to turn it off. If I have that problem again I may have to ask for my money back.

mine get pretty hot but i haven't had a problem with it yet. It only makes sense that the breeze keeps it cool. Maybe pops will chime in on this, he's the local light guru.

Yeah, I wouldn't leave it on the medium or high settings while stationary. I know my Nightlightning set's instructions specifically tells you to only use the high setting while moving.
Rode it for the first time tonight. 1 hour and 20 minutes and was still as bright as ever when we were done. Very good light. We were slowed by the water, not the light. 1:01 ride time in the dark.

I've been using mine now sometimes as much as three times a week. I usually get about 3 hours at at time on bright.
The only flaw is sometimes where the wire goes into the battery, the wire "coating" will sometimes crack. Easy to fix though... Cut abuot a 1inch piece off of a ball point pen. Then cut it horizonatlly so you can put it around the wire. Next dip it in a container of plastic kote or something similar. it will strengthen and seal the battery better that before. However, it might not fit in the batttery holder if you dip it too much.
