All, I just joined up today and NoName was telling me about the time trials. I don't know where I would fit into the pecking order and was wondering what loop makes up the Time Trial. Maybe I could time myself on a run and see how I far before showing up Sun.

Main Loop:
Pate, Trehugger, Greenbrier, Chute, Wantz Way, Valley, Coke Can, Four Dogs, Gorge, Bone, Cambodia, Carl's Trail.

There are a ton of different ways to ride it; backwards, forwards, add Bayou, add Crists Falls but for the sake of keeping it the same for all let's go with the trails above as the main loop.

Four Dogs
Carl's Trail (Is Carl's what we turned off of onto Cambodia yesterday?)

the opposite way from where you were on the fire trail. you would go left instead of right. it's a continuation of where cambodia ends when you head towards pate road. i don't think there is a trail sign that tells you were cambodia ends and carl's trail begins so it seems like one long trail.

here's a map to help show the trails.

we have a better one in a flier box at the start of pate.

OMG You're missing out on some awesome trails then. If you're coming from Pate road then you'll have the option of starting on Pate Trail by going to the right while still in the woods, turning left and going across the fire road to go down Carl's trail backwards, or going down the fire road til you get to treehugger and go left there.

All trails are marked with signs at the trail heads. If you start on campus then you're coming down Rocktrail and then going up into Wantz Way on the right and then across to Valley way as you make your way to CokeCan, which has an awesome re-route in the middle. Go check out the map on www.porc.org and you'll see what's going on. The main loop is the "Red loop" and encompasses 9mi of our most used trails.

Games loop isn't part of the main loop since it's on the other side of Pate road. I'd like to find a better way into that loop without having to dismount my bike to go under the gate. Can we make an entrance which almost parallels pate road making it not so obvious?

You enter Wantz Way after you exit the bottom of the Chute, turn right on the power lines (like you're heading toward the little creek) for about 30 - 40 yrds and then take a left into the trail. It ends as you enter Valley Way. It's not a very long trail.

Four Dogs is a little harder to describe. At the end of Coke Can, just before Descent, there is an intersecting trail that will either take you towards Bayou and 4 Dogs (left) or back towards the Valley Way/small power line area (right). Take a left at that intersecting trail and ride past the Bayou Trail (to the right) about 40 ft and hang a left onto 4 Dogs. This takes you to a gravel road. Once you get there, hang a left and follow the gravel rd. You can either enter back into the trails at the bottom of Bone, the beginning of Gorge, or climb back up the Chute.

Carls' Trail is the section between the end of Cambodia at the stream and the trailhead parking lot. If you're riding the new section of trail with the bridge, Carl's trail starts at the bridge.

You can go to this map and click the tree icons to reveal the names of the trails.

I'm not a hunt and pecker. I've years of typing in the dark on the computer from chatting to people on AIM. I'm not super fast but I can do about 50wpm with 100% accuracy. My ex-girlfriend's mother was a transcriptionist and she'd type around 110 or so. Sounded like a bunch of racket or explosions of keystrokes.

Awesome! I know all the trails you've described for me! Just wasn't sure of all of the names.

I usually do Cambodia/Carl's, I just thought the trail as a whole was Cambodia! :D

I need to learn up on the trail names. I've biked back there since 96 and remember Coke Can as just a trail that had a coke can tied to string on a tree... haha! I've been out of it for 5-6 years though and just recently got back into riding on a regular basis. For those years, I only made it out once every 2 months, maybe 6 months... that's what having kids will do to you ;)

Right on and thanks for the info, I'm going to get practicing.

Can we make an entrance which almost parallels pate road making it not so obvious? If you look south of the gate, you can see where the ATV's have been getting in....this would keep you from dismounting. I would not go that route in eye-shot of the equestrians through.
