What are going to do for driving and sleeping arrangements? I'll have room for three people/bikes. Maybe we can just priceline a few hotel rooms Saturday morning.

Sounds good! I have a trunk rack that can safely hold 2 bikes, if we don't get another truck coming along. My bud Cary may be coming and he has a minivan with the back seats pulled out so we could likely fit 3-4 in there if we are creative...

We usually stay at the Ramada Inn right by the I65 exit. Very reasonable rates... we usually get Pops' senior discount :D hehe. Another time we stopped at an Alabama rest stop and got a hotel coupon for the Ramada in. I think its around $90 / night? Not bad split 4 ways.

Well, so far the weather looks favorable (http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USAL0424?from=today_topnav_SportingEvents) except that it may be a tad cold... Sunday morning's ride will prove a tad chilly i think so pack some cold gear ;)

Im excited. Should be a great trip!

Updated Roster:
Dave M
Carl
Mark
Galen
Chris
Nate
Cary
Russell

Cary has his minivan, so we should be able to fit 2 peeps and 3-4 bikes in there. Dave, can you still drive your truck? If Mark is able to make it and willing to drive, he has a hitch rack that can carry two bikes.

Not sure Nate. I haven't heard anything about bails... What do you think? We could always make a short day trip and ride Chicky instead? It's a shame because Saturdays weather at OM looks excellent!

I'd like to go ride somewhere...

i can't go. wishful thinking on my part.

I'm still up for a trip. If the weekend thing falls through, a day trip to Swayback wouldn't be a bad thing on Sunday. Everything I see says Saturday is going to be cooler and cloudy. Plus Melanie is flying out to Cali for a week on Sunday. I would get bonus points for hanging with her on her last day in town. It will be fine either way though

I'm still game on for OM. If everybody bails I'll probably still go.

Cary said he would be better off for a day trip. So the big ?s are:

Sat or Sun ?
OM/Swayback or Chicky/USA ?

I'd be up for a Sunday Daytrip to Swayback... or even Tom Brown/ Cadalac in Tally

good for a daytrip either day at any location.

Swayback has my vote, but still I'd go if the decision was Tally

I'd vote Swayback as well. I got shortchanged there my only visit. Been itching to ride it proper. I just need to be back around 5-6pm on Sunday. Think we could swing that?

superdave

I think so. Leave by 7:00, riding by 10:00, 1 lap, lunch 12:00-1, another lap, be on the road by 3:00, and home by 6:00

Talked to Cary and Russell. Swayback on Sun is sounding great. We'd like to leave as close to 6 as possible, ride around 9. Eat some lunch, ride again around 1. Then head back?

Sorry guys, I'm not going to make it. Visions of San Felasco 's cold riding have me fearful of re-catching this virus I just got over. I'll save it for a warmer day.:(

Who all went? Looked like some of the committed backed out. How were the trails? You know you can't post a report like that.

superdave
01-31-2010, 06:54 PM
9 riders went. Trails were a lot wet in some areas but mostly dry. 1st lap was a little nipply but the 2nd lap was perfect. I just wish the legs would have felt as good as the weather for #2. Stopped for some BBQ on the way home, now it's naptime.

Steven & i hit up the chinese place and it wasnt bad. The double track leading into the trail was a muddy clay mess. I had to visit the car wash to pressure wash the bikes before heading home. The zipper was awesome. Elevator was damp. I spun the small blocks about 5ft up and pushed the rest of the way up. The second lap was only suppose to be a 4 miler but ended up about 7... oops!!
