Trip in August

I'm going to be stayin in Destin for a week in August and it looks like there are two options for me to ride (without driving)...Timberlake and Eastern lake.

Can anyone give me any insight on whether or not eastern lake at point washington is worth the ride, or should I stick with the timberlake trails.

Also, out of curiousity, how bad are the banana spiders on the trails, I'm used to taking down webs with my face, but the pics of those are creeping me out. Maybe when it gets closer someone will be willing to show me around.

Hi Jon.
I rode Eastern Lake a couple of times for an adventure race they used to have out there. It was pretty straight with a good bit of deep sand back then. Not something I would generally choose to ride. TL is a better choice. The spiders are really not that bad at TL, but I usually ride after work, so the trails have been cleansed by then! After finding the map of timberlake, I figured Eastern would be a waste of time.

Thanks for the re-assurance on the spiders. I'll be sure to ride in the afternoon then, or find some local to follow:p With all the reviews on the trail, only a few people mentioned them so I was hoping they weren't ridiculous.

Hey, I'm all for a day trip, I have the time, gas/wear and tear $...I just won't have a car to drive.

Trip is officially canceled...you know why. Sounds like BP has to reimburse the rental company though...so that's good.
