Is it day of the event registration or through the forum again? Also something for thought. I was hoping to donate something special this year but knew I couldn’t do it on my own after we abruptly became a one income family this year. So I started asking folks around work if they would be interested in making a donation to help out. Being this is in support of Toys for Tots most were quick to reach in the pockets for $5 or $10. In just one day I was able to collect enough to purchase 1 boys and 1 girls bike and I still have time left for more. It is an easy way to maximize the success of this great event and allow people who have no desire to pound them self’s into the ground for 50 miles to participate in one of the most outstanding charities of the holiday season. Just something to think about. Looking forward to the event again this year, you all do a great job!!!

Awesome Idea! Also we will have Marines there to collect toys that day so its a good place for people to drop off toys all day.. We Now have a prize for the rider that collects the most toys from friends and co-workers..
Day of Event registration.. We did kind of a pre reg last year only to get shirt sizes.. Mugs this year so one size fits all..

Pate, Treehugger, Greenbriar, at the top of Greenbriar go left to the waterpipe swath and bomb it all the way to the bottom and catch the last little bit of Camboia, then Carl's trail to home..

I plan on doing 5 laps but due to a certain SEC Championship game I wont be able to hang out as much as I would like to. Do you have to be present for door prizes?

We are going to have one of the Best Raffles you have ever seen. You will just have to prioritize whats more important to you.. The goal here is to give something to the kids #1 the fact that we have more swagg prizes than I can count, about $8,000 worth is just bonus..
All you boys need to discover the TIVO! lol

People have put alot of time and effort into this weekend. Its a fantastic party you all are invited to. You are welcome to come out anytime you like, and leave anytime you like. Please just bring a Toy, because thats what this weekend is all about. Mike If you come drop off a toy stay five minutes and leave I would be just as happy as if you rode the 50 and stayed till the end and helped clean up. I would even root for Auburn.. Just have fun this weekend its going to be a great day to hang out with your friends and ride your bike..

Here's my ride data from today's ride. The garmin tends to cut off a bit of trail; the bike computer read just over 50 miles at 12 mph avg.

Nice post Dave. Very impressive time
Yep my Garmin Edge 705 showed only 46 miles compared to Lt. Dan's 51 miles on his cheap bike computer

Dave is the calories counter correct? 4,666
superdave
12-05-2010, 08:43 AM
The garmin's calorie counter tends to be higher than the Polar HRM that I used to have. It's usually about 150 C per hour higher than the Polar. Not sure which is correct though

I did 6 full laps and got
48.87 miles (I did'nt turn it on for half of pate )
4904 calories (it took me a lot longer than Dave)
146 avg hr
164 max hr
now the reason it took me a lot longer than Dave is
Ed ............................................. Dave
3790 ft elevation gain ................... 1812 ft elevation gain
3632 ft descending ...................... 1821 ft descending
on the same course all my climbs are twice as long as Daves.
thats from my garmin 305.

Mine does the same thing if I load the info into the Garmin desktop software; it doubles my elevation gain/loss. If I use the Garmin Connect website that I linked here, it gives the lower number. I can't figure out why it does that and would assume the lower number to be correct.
Here are the top 3 finisher's Garmin data for comparison:
1st Billy 3:53 (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/58786869)
2nd Joe 4:05 (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/58849046)
3rd Dave 4:14 (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/58791498)
The trail was super fast I beat my TT time twice in a row in my 1st and 2nd lap. Dave beat his old 50 mile time by 22 mins, me by 21 mins, and Billy by 13 mins. Thanks for all the people who were part of the success of this event, and those individuals who put a lot time maintaining the trails.
Dave look at your HR avg and HR max compare to Billy. Pretty much the same!

Yeah, except he was 5% faster. His first 4 laps were as fast or faster than my fastest lap ever. Still, it's progress for me; hopefully I can keep bettering my times.

he flies by me!
That 202 max was in 1st lap of Greenbriar. My normal average HR is fairly high, but anything above 200 is very high because my VO2 max should be @ 192+.
Here's an interesting comparison of our heart rates. Billy has the smoothest while Dave seems rough? Hmm...

Actually Daves looks so rough because his HR file is zoomed in for more detail than ours. Zoom his out and it will look more like ours.

Aaahh... you found the answer. That makes sense now. Dave's graph shows HR from 120 to 170 while yours is zoomed out from 40 to 180. :)

LOL, We all use the basic Garmin Forerunner 305 which can be used for running or biking. It is the best investment I have ever made. You will never consider buying another bike computer after using a GPS. Also its easy to record the data into the computer. I have rides saved from over a year ago.
