Anyone up for a day trip up to Swayback on Memorial weekend? We'll probably be heading up Saturday morning (I'll re-post once that's confirmed) for a morning lap, grab lunch, and hit an afternoon lap before heading back. We should be back before 7 pm. I have a full vehicle right now, but if others want to caravan up it would be cool to get a group up there.

HOT! But at least there's no rain. And it's always nice to cool off in Lake Jordan afterwards. We're planning on hitting the road about 6:45 or 7 from Pace, which should put us at Swayback about 9:30-9:45. Do you guys want to try to meet up somewhere on Hwy 29 north of Molino or just meet at the trailhead? Chris, What time are you heading out?
The Wall-Mart on Hwy 29 is a good place. I'll be there at 0700. Takes about 3 hours drive time.
have you got room for chris and me?

I believe that was the plan. If Chris D. is riding w/ you guys, it may be better to meet at his house in Molino or at least pick him up on the way. We'll just meet you guys at the trailhead at 10ish.

My house would be awesome if you could swing by and pick me up. It is literally a block away from Fran's diner on HWY 29 in Molino, 13 miles (or so) north of the papermill... I'll PM directions if it's cool... I'm also still debating SS or not... thoughts?

You should be able to do it w/ a SS. You may have to get off at the Elevator climb and maybe one other longer climb, but I would say that trail shouldn't be too difficult to ss. Keep in mind though, we are going to do two laps so that needs to factor into your decision too.
Yep, the WallyWorld on Hwy 29. This is a good spot to park, because they have a patrol in the lot. I have room for several more. With Scott and I, I can still carry 3 more ppl (and bikes). Swayback is fun, this is going to be a nice ride. As to riding a SS, Swayback is very doable on a SS. There are no serious hills. I can't make the "elevator" going up. I have riden down it many times. If you want to call me, 501-0196. James
i will be there at 7:00 with bike. i rode it on my singlespeed with no problems even riding behind a slow downhill type guy to remain unnamed. what's for lunch?

Single Speed it is... looking forward to it!
Country's BBQ, Montgomery, Al. There's also a good BBQ joint right close to Swayback Park. I don't think they're open on the weekend though.
great time yall...certainly one of the best day-trip trails around. good workout too. maybe do it again in the fall.
I had lots of fun. Nice thing about that trail is, not a lot of climbing. I think I got too hot. Prolly should have drank more water.
it was excellent. especially since i had banana puddin' at lunch.
