my 1st cannondale. so far so good, but this gap in the headset looked funny to me..i tried tightening at the star-nut, but didn't close the gap.....is this typical for cannondales?

My new GF has the same deal. It was even there after I had my fork cut down, which they had to pull the whole headset apart to do. I haven't had a problem with it being there.

On my Cannondale System Six road bike (as well as Keith's) there is a gap that looks just like that. We were worried about ours until we saw it on other people's cannondales. its normal, dont worry about it.
