Gotta get away next weekend for a overnight biking trip. OM/swayback. anyone interested. if not well then how about a day trip to somewhere, possibly the capital city of Fl? If no takers on those suggestions then i would be up for a lap or two in paul's front yard. he's got some good elevation changes in his yard.

We should throw some of those PORC funds into a Tour Bus and do the Tour De PORC

Just got back from a week at Tsali and it remains, by far, the best trail system I've ridden, IMO. Fast trails, with lots of fast downhills, fast, swoopy turns with big berms in endless supply. Also very fast.

Im going there this Saturday-Sunday for the first time. I'm going with the family so Im not sure how much riding I'll get in but I'm gonna try for a full lap on Saturday. Is anyone else going to be up that way?
Also should I ride the trail clockwise or counter-clockwise. I lookin for the easiest way. Ive never road 17 hilly-offroad miles in one shot before. Plus, If I pass out from exhaustion afterwords my wife going to be pissed.
Any guesses on how long it will take me to do a loop? I doing the ninemiler at UWF in About an hour mabey 1:05 on a bad day. I'd like to just have a general idea so I can advise my wife of when to send out the search party.
Thanks

I was there this weekend and last memorial day, amazing is all there is to say.
Fast, fast fast. I went to Tsali like 6 weeks ago and an amazing ride. But after that the ride in Bham is out of this world. Dont work the course like the race it is alot more fun the other way.
Just have fun it is a blast and do not miss a ride there. M
if you like more technical climbing, go counter clockwise (up the bump) - but if you rather go down the technical stuff go clockwise, but the climb up the gravel road is long - miles i would guess so depends on what you prefer....you should be able to do the trail in less than 2 hours if you don't stop. Marty is right - it's a blast - OM is a world-class trail IMO - you should enjoy it.

If you park at the north trailhead parking lot and enter the red trail going clockwise, you will start on the climb. It's a little less than 3 miles and gets a little steeper right at the top. A lot of people will disagree with me, but that's my favorite way to go. You get the climb out of the way at the very beginning of the ride when you're fresh, you can rest at the top then you have a descend thats a little more technical with some nice sweeping turns along with some tight switchbacks down the BUMP trail. But I tend to like a little more technical downhill rather than just bombing the fireroad like you would if you were to ride cc. The other big climb is Johnson's Mtn. It's right after the BUMP trail downhill, but it's about a .5 mile climb either way you ride it. I do think descending Johnson's Mtn cc is a little more fun. Once you knock out those two climbs, the rest of the ride is a nice rolling trail. It will probably take you longer than 2 hrs though. Last time we rode up there, it took 2.5 hrs but we did have a flat tire and a bonked rider. I can imagine, with the wife, you probably want to under-promise and over-deliver rather than over-promise and under-deliver. :D

scott, as dave mentioned clockwise is a bitch at first (3 miles of uphill on a fireroad) then it's pretty smooth sailing from there. some technical parts, blood rock can be nasty, and a little more uphill but not too bad. the other way is climbing on single track then hauling ass downhill for that last 3 miles. i'm guessing you can get speeds of around 25 to 30 mph. both ways are fun. if you go clockwise you will be cursing at yourself for those first 3 miles but after that you should be good to go. even though it's challenging you will definitely come back a happy man and ready to go back.
