Anyone do the adventure race today? I forgot about it and rode about 9am, there seem to be alot of bodies and bike parts strewn everywhere.. Guess the UWF sandbox was taking its toll on the non locals..

no but we saw a bunch of them out around 1:00. they looked beat up and completely lost. i think the maps that were provided to them by the people putting on the event were from the 1980's. we had to give directions to just about all of the ones we ran into. we're looking into doing the same kind of event for porc but will wait until it's under 100 degrees out.

They were still out there at 1:00? I thought the biking section of the race was only supposed to be 10 miles or so... They couldn't have gotten THAT lost, could they?
Edit: The race consisted of 10 miles of biking, 4 miles of canoeing, and 5 miles of running. It apparently started at 8:00 AM.

i think they mixed it up and had them ride two times instead of one. they may have deleted the running portion and had them ride again at the end because of the extreme heat. it was pretty nasty out today.

I saw runners on cambodia about 10.30 am, and the maps did look horrid.. There were a group of guys headed out of the parking lot onto pate road before the back tracked back to the trail..
We finished 3rd out of 30 something teams. Heat was a problem and not enough water stops. PORC Adventure Race anyone?

we are actually thinkg of one, but no running, just biking and canoe/kayack. figure we will limit particapants if we add running.

3rd place? that's great. congrats!
gonna get with you at some point about the logistics of the event. we do want to do something small with mainly porc members at first as a trial run and then open it up the public for a second event. just looking to see how they coordinated everything. we saw the numbered punches spread out on the trail and thought that was a good idea.

I got to watch some of the Xterra race at OM on Sunday. Very impressive
Be glad to talk about helping organize an event. The running part helps spread everyone out so the trails dont get congested. It would be a good idea to do a PORC race first just to work the bugs out. Just let me know when. I planned being at the meeting tuesday but i am out of town, catch the next one though.
