The speed I hit on 12th Ave today. My 25 year old bike didnt feel very stable. Time to visit Mark for a new ride.

Ask Mark to take Victor's ride out for a spin. :D

My 200+ pound self has maxed out at 43.5 on 12th Avenue. Lots of fun and laboured breathing afterward.

officer rivkin. isn't the posted speed limit for that section of 12th avenue 35 mph? please pay the appropriate fine and attend traffic school immediately or we may have to "citizens arrest" your ass. :D

I hit 43 mph motorpacing behind a cement truck on Stewart St In Milton. That was fun but no one else do it, its too dangerous ;)

...haha just looked at stewart elevation... looks like fun :)... bet drafting a cement truck would help a lot haha...

i'll still note... mine was on 700x40 tires on a MTB haha... realy don't think i'd want to know what it feels like to go down going that fast though... on the motorcycle i had gear for that... not so much on the bike

Ditto.
That would be scary.. For some reason i don't see my brakes stopping me too quickly down that one..

I actually followed the cement truck at the red light where 87 and 89 come together and then i motor paced behind him right before king middle. What is the elevation change for that stretch of the road?

i remember someone (matt w. or mike h.?) telling about drafting behind a truck across the 3 mile bridge. with my luck, the truck would kick up some debris in the road and i would be one large scab.

... I rode motorcycles for a while... big trucks scare me... and that was with full gear... if you've ever seen semi tire blow you know what I mean... I saw one from over 1/4 mile away... (in my car)... amazing...

Amazing how much faster you can go with no wind resistance huh?

or on the opposite end... amazing how big of a difference tail/head wind makes... i've been doing an out and back ride lately... funny how easy it is one direction and how miserable it is the other direction...

the other day I went to the same hill and no matter how I pedaled or tucked i could only hit 39.7mph... i still wonder what kind of speeds I could manage drafting a van or something... and how much a difference a road bike would make... it is fun to see how quickly you slow down just by sitting up from a full tuck... i'm sure most don't get near the effect as my 300# lardy self... but it's neat :)

There are some large hills in the northern part of this county. I measured one downhill section at about a mile long. Once my ankle heals Im going to see what type of speed I can get on a Trek Hybrid.
