View Full Version : Visitor checking on group rides next week

We’re making our annual pilgrimage to Pensacola Beach next week (Mon - Sat). Checking to see if folks are attending the Wednesday afternoon rides posted on the calendar and/or if anybody will be riding in the mornings during the week. I’ve only been to ya’ll’s trails once and I need a guide!

Weather permitting, Wed 5:30 pm Pate Rd trail head. We are pretty consistent on that day.

if you get time, a ride out to ft pickens is pretty awesome. it's an easy ride with maybe a mile of walking through sand. it's about 5 miles from the gate to the fort and you pretty much have the fort to yourself. i'm not sure if the facilities work so bring water. it's my favorite thing to do at the beach.

They do have water - but I'd let it run a few minutes before drinking it.

There are two breaks in the pavement. The first sandy section is long but pretty hard packed. The second break is only about a quarter mile but its deep thick sand.

You may not want to wear real stiff cycling shoes unless you can handle going barefoot through the sand.

Thanks for the scoop. Not sure about the Ft Pickens ride but I'll definitely be at Pate Rd on Wednesday @ 5:30 unless the radar shows rain. I'll be on the red VooDoo single speed.

I appreciate the offer but we're heading home on Sunday.

Thanks everybody for letting me anchor the group ride Wednesday! Had a blast even though I ran out of gas 3/4 of the way through. Post up on www.nomambo.com if anybody is heading to New Orleans and we'll hook up for a ride over there.
