Well my bike finally made it in so I had to go for a spin before the nasty weather gets in here tomorrow.
Don't t think I have ever encountered that much sand! Will take a little getting used to. Overall the trails seemed pretty decent for this area and what there is to work with.
I will say one thing, I am all for helping out to get these things marked and cleaned up. It didn't seem like there was a definitive route or direction to take and the trails just spit you out where ever. To someone who has never ridden it before it was really confusing. Some of the trails seemed neglected and don't get much traffic yet were good tails. If memory serves correctly this maybe the Bayou trail?
I did not do any of the trails on the north side of Pate St because of sunlight. How are the trails there? Any big difference from everything on the south side?

Dont worry every one seems to get turned around/lost at first. after a couple of laps, it all comes together. the north side has less sand, is tighter, less elevation, about 3.5 miles, u will get lost overthere too, so ride with someone.
Trails are confusing. Once you get a map....you should be able to access it on this site.....and usually there are some at the beginning of the network where you started......I think it is emtpy right now.
Everyone is doing alot of maintenace now so the trails are improving.
As far as the sand....I like to think the effort it takes to get through it will keep our legs in shape for climbing.....when we do get to the hillls

Yeah! Quitcherbitchin :D Descent is the least ridden trail by far because of some of the sections are just too hard to ride by the majority of the people who would ride it. I for one avoid it because it's not part of the main loop and I have to dismount just to climb up or down a couple sections.
if you are like a lot of us, the most of the sand will become invisible once you learn how to ride through it...becomes just another challenge in the really bad spots.

ok, Mensa dictates my actions here. Road, is a noun, not a verb. The verb 'to ride' is conjugated to the singular past tense word 'rode' as in "I finally rode the trails."
Ok, i feel better now.

yeah I noticed it when after I made the post. Spent all of two seconds looking for an edit button. Then hoped nobody would notice.
If I am thinking of the correct part or the right trail, decent didn't seem too bad. Is that the part with a couple of small jumps and berms?
that sounds like the chute maybe? Descent is a short, very steep trail which is an optional part of the loop called the crist falls/bayou loop....if you saw the power plant, a large water body, or big ass black grasshoppers, then you were on this loop. it's not marked yet, but soon to have blue hash marks.

Yeah the Chute sounds pretty familiar. In fact I think that is what I was thinking of...
There are maps in the box at the beginning of pate trial. Thanks goes out to whoever is responsible for this!!

Found the maps today! Helped a lot but still was a little confused at a couple of parts.
I did however find the Gorge today thanks to the map. Seemed like one of the more fun tails with the decent and slightly/technical climb on a small section. Was pushing daylight again so I bypassed The Bone Trail and just hit Cambodia on the way back (where two dogs came out of nowhere and scared me for a sec!).
I crossed the street today and was going to hit the trails on the North side of Pate St. Either I tried to enter the wrong trailhead or those trails just don't get ridden? It seemed way overgrown and crap all over the trail so I turned back pretty quick.

Yea Loadtoad, those were my dogs. My girlfriend and I were out there clearing a new trail. Come out tomorrow at 2:00. You'll get to see how we link all the trail together to get the full loop.
