View Full Version : Timberlake Rides
We don't really have a regular weekend ride. If you'd like to post a sticky with a suggested set weekend ride time, let me know.
Regular rides are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30. We meet at the top of Ranger Camp Road. That is the paved road just North Timberlake road.
Obviously, you need a light in Winter, but there are usually a few people out there. We try to start at 5:15 as the days get short due to the fact that we are only allowed to ride for 1 hour after the sun goes down. The logic behind that? Who knows. That is Jackson Guard's rule, though, so we follow it.
The pace varies depending on who shows up.

Its actually 2 hours after official sunset that we have to get off the range.
oops sorry. I thought it was 1. I plan to get there at 4:15 and start riding at 4:30 to get an hour of riding in before the official ride start on Tuesday.

Do you guys still ride regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays?

Thanks!
I hope to get out there tomorrow. My front disc is out of whack, but I am going to try to get it fixed tonight. Dan said he is riding for sure. He is the bald guy with beady eyes. Just don't let him near your bike. I am pretty sure he keeps sabotaging my wheels.

Both are out there. There are people that ride road bikes down that paved road, and there are trails in the woods.

Yea. I guess what I ment to say is that I have only seen like two other people riding MT bikes and they are usually leave by 3 or 4pm. I have seen a lot of road bikers.
I get out on the trails when I can, I'm the one in the tow truck with the Hardrock strapped to the back. I'm usually on call so I get out when no one is calling. Currently I'm out most often on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you see the truck, Factory Spec, out there I'm on the trails somewhere. Of course sometimes I'm without a bike...aka running.

Cool man I will look for you. I have the black Yukon with wheels and a white Gary Fisher. How is it runing on the trails have see a few people out there running. Are the Spiders always this bad?
Gary
Not at all. The spiders will disappear as soon as it gets a bit colder and come back in May or so. Running on the trails is great. I seldom see anyone, you can get well over 20 miles without repeating a trail yet you are never more than 4 miles from the starting point. Another great running trail is the Florida trail section from the 85 near Crestview to the 331, near DeFuniak Springs. It is almost 50 miles of continuous trail.

do you run eglin dirt roads? I find i'd rather run the dirt roads than the florida trail as you can just see more and get less spiders. I run off of hwy 87 as I live in Navarre. I've run or biked every road off 87 thats legal and get to see all kinds of cool stuff. Just saw my first boar the other day along with a very mad little copperhead. I keep saying I will get to other parts of eglin to run one day.

Glad to hear about the spiders. I need to get out there to run. I found this little trail next to where I live in Niceville, but its really short maybe 2 miles or so. I will have to check out the trails near Crestview. Can you ride bikes out there?
I've never run the Fla Trail by Navarre, but I can tell you if you haven't run the trail between the 85 and the 331, you are missing out. This is one of the nicest trail I have run, not in the summer of course.
You are not supposed to ride on the trail, I would love for Eglin to open up a new trail area near Crestview. There are some decent riding areas in Blackwater.
I'm running a 12 mile out and back the weekend of the 23rd, day and time tbd, starting ont he Fla Trail at the 85 if anyone wants to run. Email if interested cebs@yahoo.com
