One last bit of information. The time trials will run the 3rd Sunday of the month from now until April. Last one being held April 19. They are always 8am. The monthly TT is basically for bragging rights but we do track, accumulate the results and recognize the winners for the entire 6 month TT season (Off-road time trials are winter months, road TT are spring/summer months) At the end of the time trial season we will arrange the overall winners (male/female), age group winners (male/female) and Single Speed riders. The November TT was just the start and you all have 5 more months to establish your overall time.
I can borrow some of the arrow signs from the Y race for the next one.

I dont know if you average the times or not at the end of the season but you should consider being able to "drop" one race. Alot of PORC didnt know about the TT and it would cancel out the DNF's on the first race.
Unless of course your scared to have your hometown trails dominated by PORC.:)
*Disclaimer- I was not refering to my own skills , but I will attend.

We don’t average the times; it is just the best efforts of the 6 months to determine the winner of each category. By the way a little talking smack is a good thing and no we are not afraid of having PORC dominate the local trails, of course I’m not talking about my skills either....lol.

Make sure you post the results every month. Your TT is a great idea we should also do one every month.

I think it would be cool if we could merge Timber Lake club into PORC.. We would have 3 home trails with The U, Black Water, and Timber Lake.. and grow the club. Lori, do you know if its possible to get a club discount, or purchase a blanket pass for organizations?
Isnt there like a $40 a year pass that needs to be purchased to ride the property? Do you guys to any Trail Maintainance ect..

I can borrow some of the arrow signs from the Y race for the next one.
If you need help marking the course I have a bunch of directional signs we made for the epic race and I can make more.. They are 12" x 18" and go on a 30" tall yard stake like a political sign. and also rolls of orange tape to block off any trails that are out of bounds.. Let me know how many you will need and we can get you some to keep to use each month.. I will go ahead and have the time trials listed on the calendar on the website.. Paul can you help with that?

I think that's an awesome idea, living closer to timber lake, if they're as good as you guys say i'll probably ride them more, but the guys from porc have been giving me help from day one, so i feel as if i should keep my loyalty there. If that makes sense..
&& I'm willing to help pay some of the fee's for riding.

The pass to ride the trails is only $10 a year and is available through Jackson Guard on RT 85 N (next to the Eglin Golf Course) the pass is good for 1 year running from Oct 1- Sept 30. As far as I know there is no group pass. Lets be serious here the Goverenment is going to give any discounts....lol Plus if you have never had a pass you have to watch a 15 minute video on range safety and unexploded bombs you could incounter on the range. (THe area of the trails has never been a bombing range as far as I know but your pass actually gets you on to other areas that could of been)
Responses:
-We have done some trail maintenace, but it is tough getting people out there. Jackson Guard gave us some indigenous mulch to put down, but I only got people out one time to help spread it. Maybe someone will organize some work after this class. I will come out to help, but am done with my efforts in that regard for the time being.
-I can't speak for everyone that rides at Timberlake, I know that ECC (local road club)would probably not be happy about loosing the mtb crowd, but I am members of both now because I felt that I could gain more from PORC on the offroad aspect...the IMBA class etc... So I certainly don't see a problem with PORC putting Timberlake info on their site. Personally, I am encouraging the local offroad folks to join up, but that certainly does not mean that we will no longer be ECC members. Dan can testify that I have been badgering him for a month.
-On another note, ECC got permission to put up a bulletin board at Timberlake. Apparently the permission and some funds are there, but the ball got dropped. Maybe PORC and ECC and put up a board. I am certainly willing to help with labor.
Yes the military apparently does not practice Darwinism. I figure that if an adult wants to play with a bomb, them maybe they should : )

How would you guys feel about alternating between UWF and Timberlake for these TTs? Or maybe just do one TT at UWF instead of TL?
Time trials are Dan's territory, so I will leave that to him.

I like that idea. Have the Timber Lake Time Trial on the 3rd Sunday and have one at UWF at the begining of the Month keeping them about 2 weeks apart. WIth the price of gas being what it is I wouldnt mind getting back out to UWF once a month to ride. It would be like having a mini race series between the two areas. But if you would rather talk about some other options email me, desteig@cox.net and we can see what we can do.
Dan
I guess you guys don't like the idea of having one on Saturday's? Dan, missing one road ride a month wouldn't kill ya. Dan has a bit of a mileage obsession.
Figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Some find it hard to make it out on Sundays.

I dont know what Lori is talking about. I am not obsessed. Much!!!!
Yes I knew it was true when I rode a century with Dan. It was a super windy day and there were 3 of us taking short pulls. We lost our 3rd at 70 miles due to cramping. It was tough. At somewhere around 80 miles, I hear wimpering. I am kind of wondering if it is me at this point. That's scary. No, it was not Dan, it was not me. It was an abandoned puppy by the side of the road. Dan ended up carrying the puppy for a while until we came up to a nice looking house. We convinced the owner to take the puppy. Then we rode on to the finish. Man I was glad to be done. Dan's computer registered 98 miles. He wants us both to ride past the finish line to get 2 more miles in. Dan rode that part alone!

100 miles all uphill in the snow on a 110 degree day carrying a puppy??? Good greif, I think you roadies are breathing to many exause fumes lol:sick:
That was quite a day. The full force of Dan's insanity finally came to light.
Maybe we could come up with a hanicapping system for the time trials? Fastest riders must carry a squirming puppy. The true stealth riders get pit bull puppies!!!
