Scratch Ankle Recap: For the 2018 Scratch Ankle 100 near Milton, FL, the setting was absolute perfection. Nestled near the banks of Krul Lake Recreation area is a 1 1/2 mile grass air strip that served as the staging area for this year’s race. The weather was idyllic…the sun was bright, the temperature was mild…when the racers took off for the 100km event! The top finishers completed the course in 3:22:27. Yep! You read that correctly! After 62+ miles, Chris Lessing (Male Masters 40-49) and Johnny Brizzard (Men’s Open) crossed under the Maxxis Tires arch at the exact same time!

Overall the event was a success for the club and we provide very good support with all the volunteers who stepped up to help with marking the course, registration, aid stations support. We hope to continue working with Chain Busters Racing an improve the event each year with our local knowledge. Stay tuned for the official date for 2019.

UWF Argos Go Green:
Michael Morgan is our POC for this event at the University and is excited to have the club help with volunteers.

Celebrate Earth Day by helping keep UWF beautiful. Outdoor Adventures and Pensacola Off-Road Cyclists will be leading a campus cleanup effort around different areas of campus. Focusing on the Edward Ball boardwalk and nature trails around Thompson's Bayou, Nature trail across from Pate Rd (Games Loop), and around University Park. Help out and go green!

Trash bags will be provided, varies other supplies will be on hand though limited, you are welcome and encouraged to bring supplies.

Our Staging location will be in Parking LOT E, behind the Recreation Center, (Bldg 72), from there groups will break up and target one of three campus locations Help out and Go Green!

Trail Maintenance: We are the trail stewards, we maintain and keep our trails safe and open. All members are encouraged to go out on their own and help maintain the trails. For the most part keeping vegetation trimmed and out of the way is what we want our club members doing to help. Construction or repairs will need to be organized by the club and scheduled as a trail work day to ensure our trail leaders can provide the correct plan of action and knowledge to those wanting to help.

Membership Drive: We mentioned members that have renewed this year and hope to continue building upon a strong showing of membership in 2018. As of date the club has just over 80 registered members via IMBA. If you or someone you know hasn’t signed up to be a member of PORC you can do so by going to http://imba.com/join

Members expressed an interest to gather for a group ride prior to the UWF Argos Go Green day. Sunday April 22 7:30AM group ride, donuts at 9AM and than head over to UWF campus to support the cleanup effort. Keep an eye on the weather and social media for any changes.

Let's create an adopt a trail program for our members. We hope this will empower our community to stay active and feel they have ownership of what we care about most, our trails. More details to come but if your part of a section of trail that you've adopted that is yours to maintain. When maintaining your adopted trail that is simply basic trimming. We would like those with a section to come up with suggestions for improvements which the board and more experienced trail builders will plan and organize a tail maintenance day to address.

Weekly Family ride and BBQ at UWF will begin in June on Sundays. More info to come.

Establish regularly scheduled meetings and rides. Mondays have worked for meetings and the club will meet every other month. Dates will be posted online. Sundays will be a regularly scheduled Family ride and BBQ. Ride leaders are needed.
