Beginner I would say most of the beginers would fall into a team category, and would not be able to complete 5 miles..

Billy, it's gonna be loosely organized and based on the honor system. Nothing too fancy. Basically we are going to start each group at different times so it's not too crowded in the beginning, mark on the roster what time each group left, and then at the end each rider will mark their own time at the finish line.

I was going to do the # plate thing but probably won't be able to get enough volunteers to wait around or come back to see everyone finish. The fast guys will finish in 4.5 to 5 hours and the slow guys (that finish) will probably take more than 6 hours. If I can find some people to hang out and clock the finishers I'll do that but if not we will have a table set up with the list of riders names and everyone will write down what their total race time was. If I wasn't going to race it I could mark the times but don't want to sit this one out as I've never ridden 50 miles before.

Are there any volunteers out there that don't mind sticking around or coming late and marking down the finishers times?

Melanie and my parents were planning on being there. I could probably talk them into looking after the table for an hour or two.

sa-weet! do you want them to come later in the day so they wouldn't have to sit around? if one of them could come in the morning around 8:30 i could show them what we have planned. they then could leave and just come back about 4 hours later just in case you or billy turn on the after-burners and finish quickly.

Put me (Jonathan Mason) down for solo sport, please. May as well do something productive with my life.

Speed and victory.
