Default FS 29er

anyone riding FS 29er? My trusty steel steed is rusting near the seatpost clamp so her time is limited. like the feel of 29ers, but would like a little plush in the back. as dave mentioned before a FS 29er kinda seems like overkill. been looking at the titus racer x 29er. there is absolutely nothing "racer" about me, BUT with the short (3in) travel in the back the bike kinda seems like the best of both worlds- 29er with just a little squish.
i guess i just wanted to see/ride/hear thoughts on those with experience in 29FS.

I check out the link Scott posted and then I was distracted by the chick pics advertised to the right. 8 minutes wasted at work looking at booth babes.

salsa dos niner?

perhaps your choice of steel frame + a thudbuster + a can of frame saver so it doesn't rust out like the old one?

riding rooty trails up in MI was great on my rigid 29er once i found the tire pressure sweetspot

Default Throwin in my .02

I rode a Titus 29 Racer-X at OM and was dissapointed. Got back on the HT29 and liked it much better.

I think Niner Jet 9 or Rip 9 are the best FS 29's available, BUT I wasn't ready to plop down 1800 for JUST the frame. AND Niner has had to replace all the Jet 9 linkages b/c of failures. The Kona HeiHei 29 looks good, but you can't find any around our area to try. If you don't frequent www.twentynineinches.com you may wanna checkem out.

The FS 26ers are refinned and relatively inexpensive. Your Mary will live on for years even with the rust. Get you a 4-5 inch "Trail Bike" for 2k and be done. Until the 29's get better and cheeper. UNLESS you got plenty O' jack then

AND it glows in the dark!!!!

Default iT JUST FELT

slow.

I really thought that was the one for me. Speedgoat.com has been selling them as the Asylum for few years. It was disappointing. One ride on Johnson's Mtn and I never wanted one again.

The 26 Stumpy is much more responsive and you can just throw the thing around easily and the suspension is NICE. Sucks uphill, FUN down and twisty.

The 29 Racer X just didn't feel good to me at all. Titus may do a demo again this onth at OM I think you can check the dates at Titusti.com
