I've done it several times by car and part of the way by bike. It's a pretty nice section of the southern tier. It does have alot of rollers through there and some are pretty sporty. There are a few little "towns" along the way and a little mom and pop bbq place I believe. I'd like to do that ride. I'm pretty sure that's the section where Roger got hit by a car a few monthes ago, but that could have been anywhere.

I thought he got hit near Panama City?

Its 54.4 miles from my house to the Hooters in Crestview going down hwy 90. I was just thinking it would make a great lunch trip sometime if it warms up a little.

Yeah, I think he got hit on Hwy 20 north of P.C.

I'd he interested in that trip as long as there's a pretty good group going. Visibility would be key.

The only bad thing about going to Hooters is the stretch from 90 ( in town ) Hooters ( south of I-10 ). Only a couple of miles, but very congested. Use google earth to scout it and you'll see what I mean. There is a back way that goes south just before town and over the Interstate that brings you out just south of Hooters. Might be a better route.

I know the back route that your talking about and it doesn't have a bike lane. I think that we would be better off just going straight through town. I was planning on just making a solo trip but a group ride would be even better.

The back route is even more frightening than going through town. There is NO shoulder and cars are going 55+

As of right now the only decent day while i'm home is looking like Saturday the 15th. 56/42 with a 10% chance of rain. We'll see as the time gets closer.

If some of y'all only want to go one way. I could probably pick you up at the Hooter's in exchange for lunch. :-) Angela and Amberle are out of town and I can tote 2 bikes with either of the vehicles I have.

We're going to do a short version from the Milton truly spokin on saturday morning at 9am if anyone wants to join. it'll be about 70 miles round trip and we are planning a 16mph or so average. so far about 5 or 6 people going.

Scott, Stephen Hyde, Dave Green, Trish, and myself made the trek to Hooters. Then Mr Green & Mr Hyde split off and immediately went back. That left Scott & Trish to deal with my suffering. Took 2hrs 10 mins @15.9mph going out and 2hrs 9 mins coming back. Total avg pace 16.0mph. he ride wasn't bad. I would definitely do it again.
