Default Scratch Ankle 100 - April 17th

On April 17th, PORC will be hosting the Scratch Ankle 100 gravel grinder event. This is a non-competitive ride on a mixture of dirt/gravel roads, paved roads, and a small amount of singletrack.

There will be distance options of 30, 62 (100km), and 100 mi. Entry fee is $40 and includes a t-shirt if you register before March 1st and post-ride meal, which is looking like it will be gumbo and blackberry cobbler. Ride-day registration will go up to $50, so be sure to register early.

100% of the proceeds from this ride will benefit PORC, which means better trails and events for you! The event will start at Bear Lake Recreation Area in Milton, FL. Weather this time of year should be perfect for camping and sites are available at Bear Lake, Hurricane Lake, and Karick Lake, with the event route for the 100 miler passing through all of these rec areas.

We hope, with a strong turnout, to make this an annual event and fundraiser for the club. Come out and challenge yourself then enjoy good friends and good eats afterward.

Riders can register at:

Only 2 more weeks left to register and still get a free t-shirt. I haven't picked out the actual color yet but it's likely to look like one of these.

We're up to 68 entries for this event. If you're not registered already, do so soon. The largest class is the 30 miler, so if you haven't done an endurance event before, you'll have lots of company in the shortest category. This will be another great PORC event, so don't miss out!

On Saturday, March 19th, we are doing a pre-ride of the Scratch Ankle 100k course. This will be a no-drop ride with water stops at miles 18 and 35, and a store stop at mile 51. The ride will start at 7 am, so please be at the parking lot by 6:30 so we can be geared up and start on time. This is likely to be a 5-6 hr ride, so plan accordingly. This will not be a supported ride, so be sure to bring your own food, water, tubes, pump/CO2, tools, money, etc. The meeting place for this ride will be at Juniper Creek parking lot, which is different from the starting point of the actual Scratch Ankle 100. The change in starting point will save you guys $2 ea in parking fees and it actaully spaces the water stops a bit better. Here is a map to the parking lot from Downtown Milton:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/30.6....9889165,11.5z

I have also create a route on Map My Ride from that starting point that can be loaded into your Garmin or other navigation device.

I'm not sure about that. Call Bear Lake Campground and they could tell you

For the pre-ride that was scheduled for tomorrow, we're gonna postpone that until Sunday and let the weather clear out. If you plan to join us for the pre-ride, be at the Red Rock Rd trailhead at 6:30 Sunday

How did the clean up ride go Dave? I cleaned up the singletrack and had plates sticking out of my everywhere. I think i lost some back on the trail. You did a hell of a job on that ride Dave!!

I actually had to bail on the clean up ride. But thanks to Wayne, Jacob, Ashlynn, and Erin, everything was cleaned up. They all hit their plate minimum and didn't have to pay for the ride.
