Default Virus alerts

the website provider (POWWEB) is having problems with a virus known as js/psyme which ended up on our porc site...I've gotten some emails about it, and saw the alert when i pull up the site using IE 6, but no problems with firefox, which what i normally use. I deleted the suspect file and POWWEB said they are fixing the problem using scripts and making everyone change their FTP passwords...until then, just to be safe, i would access the forum directly until further notice - -porc.org/forum

if you don't have virus protection, google AVG and download/install - it's free.

AVG is good. Another good choice is Avast- its also free, and seems to update more frequently than AVG. Comodo firewall is another good (free) security measure.

Haven't had any problems with the forum or the site yet.

just don't download one that LOOKS like MS firewall that is a popup saying your computer is slow and may be infected so download our antivirus software... it's just another virus... my dad has those computers come in every day it seems

agv + firefox = good... finaly got my in-laws to stop using IE and they are amazed... well except father-in-law who thinks the pop ups are all my fault... because I installed firefox on his computer... lol...

Symantec Endpoint is what I use on my networks including the Navy's. We're going through a bit of hassle with W32.downadup.B right now but getting it tracked down. Logga, have you seen what this sucker can do? Does a network crawl, will self update, LOADS of stuff.

moderate expertise - but the virus was being handled by HQ...they pushed a daily scan on our PC's which reports to them....seems to have worked for the time-being.
