Default Trail Maintenance

Is it worth shoveling sand off the trails? I know its temporary, but I want to be as effective as possible during TM. I agree about re-routing those bad sandy areas. Is this something we will be doing this weekend?

sure...like was noted on another post though, it is best to put a series water bars upstream (uphill) from the sand-bed, since the sand was most likely deposited at the location by upstream erosion. Otherwise, the sand will return within a few rain events.

We'll have less rain/sand during the winter so yes we could shovel the Chute and get it fast again. I only have one section to fix on CokeCan and that shouldn't take long on Saturday so the rest of the time spent could be on Sand.

we have sandbags now also...a time saver maybe to put the sand from the sandbeds into the bags, and then put the sandbags upstream to slow erosion.

good idea. for those of you who plan to remove sand take some of the sandbags we will have at the TM and put the sand in them instead of throwing it to the side. sandbags can be used to divert water, used to build up banks in a sharp corner, and for jumps, etc...

I've been saying that for months now. Remember, with the little army/navy shovels? Nobody ever pays any attention to me, boo hoo.
