Arrow PORC Epic Race- Sunday, November 2nd- Sign up!

**On Sunday, November 2nd daylight savings time ends. Because of this don't forget to move your clocks back one hour on Saturday night before you go to bed. If not you may be getting to the event an hour earlier than you need to.**

PORC will be having its 1st annual Epic Race Sunday, November 2nd at the UWF trail system. Sign up begins at 8:30 am and the race will begin promptly at 9:00 am. Please show up early if at all possible.

The race will consist of approximately 50 miles with five laps of our main trail (see map below) and one lap of the Games Loop (aka North Pate Trails). Please park at the Pate Trail head parking lot and post back if you need directions. The race will be loosely organized and on the honor system. This will be more for fun and bragging rights than competition but I'm sure we will have some good battles.

This is how it will break down:
Three different team categories (individual rider, team of two, and team of three) with a Sport and Expert class for each. Prizes will be given out for each of the six groups. There is no cost to participate so don't expect high dollar prizes but do come out for some swag and fun. We will have some food and refreshments for everyone afterwards.

In order to get a good idea of how many people to expect we need everyone who wants to participate to post back to this thread what team category and class they wish to race in. Example: "Individual- Expert" for those of you who can do this in there sleep or "Team of Three- Sport" for those who may have never done anything like this before.

* We need Volunteers!
If you do not plan on racing please volunteer to help out. We will need at least four more people to help set up the course, food & drinks, coordinate starts & finishes, etc... so please let us know if you can step up to help.

We look forward to seeing everyone out there!

How do you get to the trailhead?

Put me down for the fat-beginner (sport) category. I will be happy to join a team of one or two more peeps.

yes. teams members can break it down however they want. split it equally, one member does 4 loops the other does one, etc...

Do all team members have to be PORC members?
If not, I have a 2 person team. We may add a 3rd person.

Anyone who wants to participate is welcomed.

Just let us know if you add a 3rd and if you are gonna race Sport or Expert.

I think it should have to be a relay. One loop per team member at a time. Maybe not have to trade off in any particular order. If you have a three man team then just plan it so the strongest rider ends up doing the most laps, but no one should be able to do more than one lap at a time. Of course, except for the solo riders.

Default Start?

What kind of start is it going to be? I think it should be a lamans style start. Everyone has to run from the far end of the parking lot to their bike, and to make it more interesting, all geared bikes have to be staged in the highest gear the bike has.

Thanks. We will definitely be Sport. I should know about our 3rd early next week.

Ummm..I think I'd qualify for the fat old bad back beginner lady category right now.
