Default Wanted to intro myself...

Hi all, my names Karl, I've recently transferred (in the Navy if you couldn't gather that from my name on here )here to the what I thought supposed to be the sunny side of Florida? Guess I came at a bad time...

Any ways... I've spent the last 7 yrs in Southern California enjoying everything there is to enjoy about mountain biking, some epic rides out there to be had, and I'm looking forward to taking full advantage of what the south has to offer.

Where's the hot place here for some warm up laps? I need to knock some cobweb loose...

there's also a loop out at blackwater state forest north of milton if you happen to be at whiting field.

If you have lights we have a group ride this Wed 5.30 at UWF. Also there is a Pancake Ride the last Sunday of the month at 9am. The UWF Trailhead is located on Pate Road.
If you take Hwy 29 north of I-10 you will go about 3 miles passing a Wal*Mart on your right go about a mile past that and make a Right at the light on 10 mile road. Go though the next 2 lights and Pate Road will be on your right after you go over Chemstrand Rd. You will see signs for Gulf Power keep going there is a parking area after the houses on the right. The trail is at the very end of the parking Area. You we see a big Kiosk at the trailhead with a map. Red , Geen and Blue loops are pretty clearly marked if you ride counter clockwise. There is also some more trail on the west side of the road under the gate across the street. A Large Freeride area and about 5 miles of single track.

Welcome to the area. This link will give you more details about what others have posted.
http://www.porc.org/localtrails.htm

Within less than 4 hours drive north we have Oak Mtn in Birmingham, closer is Swayback outside Montgomary. Mobile AL has more of what UWF has to offer and to the east in Tallahassee some nice stuff. If taking a road trip tho, most choose OM.

Enjoy!

I must say, all things concidered, that trail set up here is very impressive. Fast, smooth, hardly any time when you're not pedaling. And I'm loving that set of singles, jump after jump just makes you wanna pedal harder... I'm used to climbs from hell and decents that would make tears come to your eyes you go so fast...

But seriously... awesome set, I only rode 5.6 miles which is I guess half of the red, and cut back along the power lines to make my way back to the green loop...
