The ride goes on...
Hello to our fellow PORC'ers,
This announcement is the first of what will be a regular update so members can stay informed to the latest events and news with PORC.
In the past, we found that the easiest and most effective way to reach the masses has been our online forum which you can find at www.PORC.ORG. But to ensure we have the most coverage with our members with news, we will also post to our social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
Now that the club communication plan is stated, here is what is going on with PORC. First, the current President, Chris Maloney, has decided to step down from his role and will not be directly involved with the club at this time. He stated that it was what was best for him and we only support him in his decision. We wish him well and the door is open for him to return to the club if he desires to do so in the future. He accomplished a lot as President and we owe him a big “thank you” for it.
That brings us to the next topic. Chris's biggest accomplishment was the MOU (memorandum of Understanding) with UWF. You’ve heard us talk about this for months and this week we just received word from our contact at UWF that it has been approved. There will be much more info to come involving how the MOU is progressing. This is absolutely great news for us, the university and our partnership of land use and management.
Our next point, which ties in with the MOU, is trail maintenance. With the MOU getting finalized, we will be able to implement the correct procedures to allow us to get some much needed trail maintenance done. This is one of the reasons why PORC was originally founded. So, while we are moving forward, we will not lose sight of one of our core tenets.
Now for the fun stuff; we have the Scratch Ankle 100 coming up the end of April. This is a great event and based on recent participation of gravel rides, it's going to be "Huge."
Some members have been asking when the next meeting is so we are tentatively planning a club info-social in April. The Saturday before Easter is currently what's slated. We are also looking at setting up at the trailhead one weekend soon to also field any questions from our members. Keep in touch as there will be more to come.
Thank you in advance for being patient with your current board as we diligently work on a number of great things. We look forward to sharing all of these great accomplishments with you, our fellow members.
